Monday, March 30, 2009

A British university is offering a master's degree in Facebook, MySpace and Twitter, but it will cost students more than $6,200.

For $6,275 Birmingham City University in the U.K. will teach students how to blog, set up podcasts and make the most of the social media websites for marketing.

"It's not for freaks or IT geeks. The tools learned on this course will be accessible to many people," convenor Jon Hickman told The Daily Mail. -rattus58

There's a lot to learn. Most don't take advantage of all these sites have to offer - especially from a sales perspective.

I'm speaking at an upcoming conference and requested the attendee list in advance. Then spent some time on LinkedIn, researching connections I might have to companies or specific people in attendance. Obviously, I then reached out to my contacts and asked for an introduction.

People were very surprised that a) LinkedIn could serve this function and that b) I was making the most of it.

Best of luck out there!
