Standardized is not an accurate term.

Prepared talks have their place. They can be designed for greater effect. That's an advantage. A disadvantage is they can be poorly constructed.

Prepared talks provide a reasonable assurance that the necessary points get covered. That's an advantage. A disadvantage is they don't always prepare us for detours in conversation.

The best preparation comes in segments. They consist of prepared wording groups that address the common issues in a sales interview AS THEY ARISE. There probably are no disadvantages to expertly prepared conversational segments which are used in this manner. -Ace Coldiron

I think prepared presentations that the company puts together are advantageous to inexperienced salespeople. The presentations have already been tested in the field so the salesperson doesn't have to figure out what to say. -Seth
