80% cold calls
10% referrals
5% business mixers

Find a way for the client to call you or write to you showing interest, in some form. This works best, as the prospects has shown interest. This is why Internet marketing (PPC and SEO) work better than conventional methods, as the prospect was actually searching for the keyword you'd targeted. Your response is permission based.

Cold call is the last resort.
