I am in the IT sector. I have found that straight cold calling is the best way to grow your business. As long as you ask them about thier network, they will talk your ear off. They are quite proud of thier setup and will give you loads of useful information. -salesfist

LinkedIn can be a great way to find companies who are in the target market you are looking for, and then have the name of the person to contact. Then if you invite them to join your network and followup with a call to them, it 'isn't a cold call anymore'.
