This is an excellent example of a persuasion principle being used in personal selling.

Are you saying that persuasion causes no resistance?

No, it's not a "cause". People take "mental shortcuts". Persuasion principles play into this so there is "no resistance".

Here is a quote from Robert Cialdini's, "Influence", where he talks about profiteers exploiting the weapons of automatic influence:
Quote:
..."The last feature of the process gives the profiteers an enormous additional benefit - the ability to manipulate without the appearance of manipulation. Even the victims themselves tend to see their compliance as a result of the action of natural forces rather than the design of the person who profits from that compliance."
This unthinking compliance (willingness to say yes without thinking first) offers "no resistance".

Where can a guy find more examples that relate to selling?

When you read Cialdini's book you will come up with plenty. Trust me.

Agent Smith, this is no reflection on your studies and worthwhile posts on the subject (I value your efforts greatly). Your last post, including the words above, caused me to examine more closely why I have turned away from a persuasive model for selling over the last several years.

I like my prospects to think.

It has worked well for me.

If you only knew why that first part has me laughing. Perhaps not forever, my friend, but for the time being and in the last month, I've outrun the *******.

Sorry, Jeff, but just this once cut me some slack on that language.

Here is a quote from "Influence" that might provide a different light:

Quote:
Civilization advances by extending the number of operations we can perform without thinking about them. --Alfred North Whitehead
