There are probably parts of the United States that do not have DSL, but you can still get Cable or even Satellite.
I tried Satellite last fall, when I was mis-informed about whether or not DSL was available in a new house I bought. The satellite (Direcway,) was very expensive - over $600 for the equipment - and never worked right. It crashed my computer, causing me to lose many valuable writing projects, and photos I had stored on hard-drive.
Then - I had to fight with Direcway to get out of my "contract,". Even though I had purchased the equipment, and paid over $200 for installation, they thought they needed another $80 per month - for two years - out of me. Even though I complained and complaine, and my system never worked - they said I didn't comlain enough.
I only called in 9 times, they said I had to call in 10 to negate the "contract."
Let me tell you people : when you have business practices like that - and customer service so bad that you are trying to force customers to use your service - you need to take a look at your company and your product.
