Talking Intro from the Bay Area

Hi everyone,

Decided to reach out and get ideas and help. I'm somewhat new to sales. In the past I was a manager on the technical side in the security systems arena. I've moved over to the sales side and am finding I am doing well. I've heard folks from the technical side rarely do well in sales and I am going to prove that statement wrong. I've been in the security industry for over 25 years and am wanting to enjoy the sales process. I am currently with a good solid company. The down side is everything is about volumn. I tend to want quality over volumn so I am pondering switching over to what appears to be a better paid position if I do as well as I am doing now. I will be required to self generate more business and that is scary.

I'm looking forward to hearing how you folks do it, you know the saying, "stick with the winners".

Thanks for the welcome

I am located in Castro Valley which is right next to hayward in the East Bay (east of the san francisco bay).

I went ahead and filled out my application for this new position and we'll see. There is some kind of personality test I have to take as well.

The self generating component is a bit scarey even though I am generating some of my own business. I'm hoping my new boss will access me with the process as he did very well in Sales.

I look forward to reading many of the threads and staying on top.
