Have a laugh...at my expense

This is an embarrassing moment I thought I'd share to lighten your day. I fired off an email to a customer. Apparently I misspelled the word "convenience." It was snagged by the spell check and I routinely selected "correct," it automatically corrected it, and sent the email.

Here is my advice for day: Don't assume the spell-checker automatically recognized the word correctly. Here is what I sent:

If there is an error in this address, please send me a correction and I will fire it back out to you. Sorry for the incontinence.

Fortunately, on my next correspondence, I happened to re-read my last email to him, and started out the next one by telling him the spell checker gave me a good laugh. His response: "Yeah, I saw that right away and decided not to touch it."

Good grief!

perfection will come through practice. It cannot come merely by reading instructions- it has taught you a lesson.

I came in here after seeing the subject line planning to say something about never laughing at the misfortune (or goofs!) of others. I'm a journalist and make TONS of typos that keep my face red. But doggone, I couldn't help just a wee little smile at this one.

My own worse offense, and I have no idea why I do it, is forgetting the word "not"... it's the creepiest thing! Like if I want to type "I am certainly not upset" I often type so fast, I see it later that I typed "I am certainly upset" Ugh! So I think the language should ban the word "not" from the dictionary. Hey, I'm just saying!
