They are separate skills. If a person is going to make a good living in either situation, then he/she needs to develop that skill to a high level.

I do not believe they are so much seperate skills, at all. I use similar skills on each step--effectively.

The person who can effectively prospect and sell can write their own ticket in sales. The person who can only go on appointments set by others, will forever depend on others.
