Advise needed. Crossroads in my sales career.
Hi All
Been reading this forum for awhile now and it has helped me alot. Would really appreciate if i could get some opinions. At present im working as a personal banker for 6mths now. Im stationed at a branch and my customers are basically walk in customers. Last week, i went for an interview for a relationship manager position. The interview went ok until the interviewer, Mr X, started grilling me with lots of technical financial stuff and difficult interview questions. After the interview, i thought it was a goner but surprisingly , the HR dept called me back to discuss more in details. I know im jumping the gun here, but if i do get offered, the guy who interviewed my is gona be my boss. And i heard he can be a rather tough person to deal with. This isnt gona help much along with the increase in sales targets. However a jump to this position is also impt to my career. Ultimately im aiming to work in a private bank. Feel free to sound out yr opinions. Thanks! |

If he was the interviewer and you got a call back that's a good sign, right?

It's been my experience that tough SOB's to deal with as bosses can be really good for your sales career sometimes. They often push you out of your comfort zone and force you to face up to things you need to do but are reluctant.
The fact that you got a return call indicates you probably did something right at the interview. Perhaps your new boss was throwing things out that he knew you wouldn't know to see how you handled it. |

I agree with the above two responses.
Another observation: The results of your interview were positive. The tough questions asked can be viewed as an important clue as to where you should direct your immediate learning. My advice, based only on your post, is to treat them as such and accept the position. Good luck to you. |
