Rapport Idea #3: Active Listening

Idea #3 for building and maintaining rapport;

  • Engage in active listening.
Q1): What does that mean to you?
Q2): Do you think this will help to build/strengthen rapport?

Most definately this will help. Active listening "is" engagement.

Any other opinions?

Active listening is very important and I think it would be difficult to maintain rapport without it.

Cool

Very important, absolutely! It's always noticeable that someone isn't listening when there are a lot of "I see" and "I understand" and "Uh huh" answers. So along with that important listening comes the interactive part where you need to give back a response that doesn't sound canned.

Yes, this is going to help considerably. If a person was going developed only one "rapport" skill this should be it.

Trying to understand the other person's point of view <active listening> leads to mutual understanding <rapport>.
