Professional Buyer's Bill of Rights?

I got an email about this from the United Professional Sales Association (UPSA) today and I wonder what others think:

Here are a couple gems;

  • I will make time to work with you and demonstrate my product and services according to your schedule
  • I will offer my products and services at pricing that represents what is considered fair in the marketplace

Who comes up with this stuff?

How about we agree on a time that works for each of us?

How about I set my own prices and if you like them great and if you don't you can go somewhere else?

I can see how these might rub some salespeople the wrong way. I like the idea of codes of conduct and similar but this one might benefit from a revision.

IMO, there might be some wrinkles to iron out but it's a step in the right direction.

When I was selling fractional ownership to HNW's.....I met them when THEY had time in their schedule. I know this is a niche market of people, but if I tried to make the appointment work for me, it would take weeks.

What does HNW stand for?

I leave my afternoons open for appointments and try to meet with the customer as soon as possible. Sometimes I already have an appointment for a certain time but most people understand.

HNW is short for High Net Worth. They are people whose schedules you work around.
