eBay

I noticed the other day that eBay now has cars and even real estate available. Just wondering if anyone has actually utilised it. I understand that eBay provides an enormous market, though has it's own opportunities to overcome for sales of this nature.

I know people who have sold cars and real estate on eBay. Specifically, one guy sold a 63' Corvette and another sold vacant land somewhere in Arizona. Not your run of the mill merchandise.

I don't think I would feel comfortable buying homes or cars on eBay. A book maybe.

eBay Motors section is getting quite popular. On a personal level, I don't get the craze and will always shop locally for vehicles. I don't want to go far just to pick up a car *or* pay mega shipping charges if they get it to me some other way. I don't want to mess with transfers and stuff that way, either.

That said, I've been known to watch the progress of some *really* fabulous classic cars on there.

I'm with Thomas on this one. I've purchased a lot of collectible Beatles' memorabilia (no matter how I spell that word, it looks wrong) and been antsy about it - can't imagine making a major investment in a car or property!

Besides, just imagine how much the shipping would set you back!

I happen to know someone (cough) who purchased a Hummer off eBay. The transaction was pretty smooth. The biggest challenge, and it wasn't that big, was having the vehicle delivered.

As a matter of fact, I've been a powerseller on ebay for over 5 years. (My user name is eldragon.)

While I probably woudn't purchase a car or house on ebay, I might sell one - but that's doubtful, too.

The venue (ebay) has changed dramatically in the past few years. It's actually sad. Big business has taken over, just like in every other place.

The good times seem to be almost over and I can barely meet my power seller status quotas every month.

I have heard that eBay isn't the "garage sale" style (used/hard to find) of venue as it used to be. Now it's more "New" items.

That's sad to hear, Eerie. What type of items do you sell? I haven't used eBay in a few years, but it used to be loads of fun searching for different items.

Almost bought a Prada purse a while back, but I was hesitant because there was no way of knowing if it was the real deal before spending the cash.

Very true, Marcus. I don't mind the new things at all if that's what I'm looking for. I wish there'd be more of the "yard sale items" we used to find, though. I think high shipping costs have turned a lot of people away.
