What are you most guilty of?

We all know what we're supposed to be doing, and how we're supposed to do it. Some of it is learned... some of it is obvious.... some of it is the result of trial & error.

But like anything else, we're all probably guilty of not doing something we know we should be doing.

For me, it's proactive prospecting. I used to be good at it, and do it all the time. Lately, I've not made the time I should to pursue active prospecting... identifying potential new clients and making an effort to effectively get in touch with them. A subset of this "guilt" is not doing this with existing customers. In other words, I should be asking existing customers to recommend me to their counterparts at other companies.

So fess up, and let's hear what you're guilty of not doing....

Proactive prospecting is my issue too. I know the drill but getting myself to take action sometimes is easier said than done. I'm working on changing my perception of what proactive prospecting means to me. Maybe that will help.

As a beginner, that's hard for me too. We are supposed to make new contacts every day. I've already run out of people I know, so I'm working on other ways to make contacts with potential customers.

Uh... okay, okay... I'll admit it, this is my problem, too. I get a little too comfortable with clients I'm already working with because it's easier. Maybe this can be one of my resolutions for the new year. I know of a colleague who set a goal for himself (a very HIGH goal, I might add ) and is fully intending to stay on track to reach it. He's doing great so far and that's what I need.
