I would say this is the biggest mistake that I've made in life, not celebrating and not giving myself any rewards in life.
One of the best indirect rewards I had was a school teacher talking about taking her charges on school foreign field trips saying to me " Your Zoe is comical, as soon as we announce a school trip and asks does anyone want to go - her hand shoots straight up" It appears Zoe [Age 8] never thought she should ask her parents, consult anyone, and it was her who decided that she ought to go, that she
owed it too herself, and from her point of view going to Norway, France, Greece or Prague was not going to cause her any personal hardship. Sales paid for it all.
I come from a poverty North of England coal mining and steelworks area and rewarding yourself was never part of the deal. For this reason its good to see youngsters enjoying themselves and living in a much better world than their forbears.
