Beginners Luck?

Is there such a thing as beginner's luck when it comes to selling? I have been amazed at the success I'm having so far. I have never attempted to sell anything before in my life!

Of course, I would love to do better and will aim for much better but I'm still very happy with the way things are going. Is it beginner's luck?

What people refer to as "beginner's luck" is quite common. People begin a new venture full of enthusiasm. They want to do well. Their enthusiasm motivates them to makes sales calls, prospect, etc. They study product knowledge. They learn their craft.
If we would only realize that is what produces results we would be fine. But we want to find an easier way. We want the results without the effort. Sales does not work that way.
Don't let the "old pros" dampen that enthusiasm. Don't let a lost sale weaken your resolve. Strive to become better each day.

Best of luck in your selling efforts.

Your new, your bursting with sincerity, and customers like you, they have 2nd guessed what your doing and approve. Your happy and honest approach does not make them squirm, and your not going to disturb them, make them look fools, or leave a bitter-aftertaste. You have an Avon wwwsite, so you appear to be selling Avon products, a brand name cosmetic I presume.

But one day the novelty will wear off, you will lose that innocence, you will change and the firing pin will become blunt. You'll see a press recruitment advert offering a job vacancy for far more money, it will attract you, you'll join up. The biggest mistake you will make is losing your sincerity and telling people you are in sales. Because once you tell people your "in sales", you will try to live upto your inner belief of what a salesmen looks like, sounds like, thinks [like] and acts. In short you were ideal as you are, its not beginners luck, its the reward for being yourself, for being kind, and for caring. So keep as you are, and don't alter.

Thank you very much for your very thoughtful and thought provoking replies. I think I'm too old to change very much and don't need to make a lot of money so hopefully, I won't alter.

Forget Beginner's Luck. It's your enthusiasm and motivation that is creating your success.
What kills the deals later in life is the lack of both. Just don't let other people (salesmen in particular) get you down, and don't ever think you know everything. I was always more successful when I stopped listening to the guys who had been "in the business" longer than me. Talk to people who have a positive attitude about what they do, and ignore the others. Having this kind of attitude keeps you motivated, and also motivates those around you.

i agree!! its not luck. ESPECIALLY in business. its what you do with yourself and how much you work in selling. the 'luck' part will probably be if your product is good or not.
