If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!!

There are several new intro threads so I figured I might as well jump on the bandwagon too!

I stumbled upon this site when I did a search and saved it a little over a week ago in my favorites. There is a lot of good information and I'm looking forward to reading and support when I can.

I work as a Manager for Marketing/Technical Support for a manufacturer of construction products for the commerical industry. We manufacture admixtures for ready-mixed concrete, block, masonry, curing and sealing compounds, epoxies and urethanes, grouts, joint fillers, hardeners, repair materials, etc. for the construction industry.

My current job will be changing June 1 as I will be supporting a new department, Training and Development. They have named a director for this department and 80% of my job will be to support him and this new department. I have 3 direct reports and they will also support this program when needed.

We attended a Train-the-Trainer program last week in Orlando and it was an excellent course on design and implementation of training and development. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but we have both known each other for over 10 years, work well together and are excited in getting this program off the ground.

I have 10 years experience in marketing (which included training) and the director has over 25 years of sales experience. We will be teaching some sales tools and offering a program unlike our company has ever experienced before. It's pretty exciting.

I also wanted to mention that my husband and I along with another couple have gone into business for ourselves. We bought an existing floor cleaning business (carpet, tile, wood, etc) after the current owner decided to move out of the area. We take possession of the business July 1. This is something very new for us, however the business has been established for over 12 years in this area and has proven successfull for the current owners. We plan to grow this business and this site has a lot to offer.

Look forward to "seeing" you on this forum!
