Do you give out promotional items?

I know it has been a while since any post have been made, but I felt that I had to add to it (since I work in the promotional product industry). I have seen a lot of good ideas and suggestions posted. IMO everybody likes to get a “gift” and a promotional item is just that. I know that there is a promotional item for every business industry; you, with a little help from us, just have to find the one that works for you. I have found that it’s not the everyday promotional products that sell the most, (example pens, hat, t-shirts) it’s the ones that are different that help you stand out (sonic rocks, custom Rubik cubes). But again it all depends on what you are trying to accomplish. We send out had written thank you card to each customer we have contact with and always throw something free in with the card. Like I said before, everybody likes to get free stuff!

I came up with the idea of putting my business card on a small bottle of air freshner to hand to customers when they come on the lot. I also hand them potential customers when I'm out prospecting. I think it's better than handing out just a business card because people will actually use the air fresher and not throw it away like they might a business card. I also tell them when they run out to drop by and get another bottle. It's a good way to stay in contact and keep them coming on the lot until they are ready to buy.
