Favicon: One More Opportunity

Have you ever noticed the little icon in the browser's address bar when visiting different sites that you've bookmarked? For instance, SalesPractice has an icon "SP".

These are "favicon" files. They offer one more opportunity for branding. If you have a website you might consider taking advantage of the opportunity.

FYI: To bookmark a page in IE press the CTRL+D keys simultaneously.

How would something like this help with "Branding"?

It's surprising how many websites "do not" use a "favicon." This means that your favicon will standout among your visitors bookmarks.

You're right. If you're wanting your bookmark to stand out among your visitor's crowd of "favorites" this is the way to do it.

This really is "basic" for any website. In fact, if you don't have a "favicon" file check your server stats for 404 errors and you'll see just how often that file is called.

If any members here have a website and need help setting up a "Favicon" let me know and I'll help you get it up and running in no time.

Re: Favicon: One More Opportunity

Son of a gun! I see it! Do you know I NEVER save things to my favorites because my husband and daughter have filled this thing up with so much junk, I have a better shot at finding something again by searching the internet than by searching this giant list. I just did the CTRL-D (which was a shortcut I was not aware of, BTW) and there's SP sticking out like FLARE among a thousand "little E's") Ok, I know what my next project will be! I am starting to feel like the tutorial "queen." (Every time I turn around, it's time to read another tutorial--what a great FREE source of information!). Thanks, Sales Guy!

How does this tie into the favicon idea?

Ok, Jeffrey, I'm having a little trouble putting together such a small image...any suggestions for the image creation?
