It is no secret that Negativity - Breeds negativity.

I find that segregating from the negativiy helps me. Don't be rude but certainly let it be known they the other sales staff are being negative. Something that I find works for me is when the others are being negative or talking down about the customers I point it out to them and 9/10 they realise that there are being negative and bringing other down. Therefore they quickly pull their heads in.

Good luck

My suggestion to that salesperson would be to stay out of the negative environment as much as possible and counter balance that negativity elsewhere with positive enourgement and reinforcement.

Staying in a work environment like that is going to cost the salesperson emotionally and financially.

I have several friends in the sales game who are always behind the curve and relish the concept of making it everyone elses fault and problem. Nothing I say or suggest ever spurs them on, so I guess that my suggestion is to just sit back and watch them muddle through life in the slow lane.

In years past when I'd get into a slump that I couldn't pull myself out of I'd sign up for another dose of Amway. Those guys are geniuses when it comes to motivation and the price of admission is a $25 kit.
