New guy looking for advice/insight

Hello everyone, thanks for stopping by my post. I am relatively green when it comes to sales and marketing, most of the experience I have in this area has been in the health care arena.

The reason I began looking for a marketing forum is that I have been building a website over the past year and now that it is almost time to cut the ribbon on it, there are alot of aspects of a new business that I nor my partners have much experience with. I have chosen to be on the front line of sales and where I keep hitting a brick wall is when I try to develop sales territories. I have searched all over the internet for examples but cannot find what I am looking for. The sales I will be persuing are advertising, basically a directory such as service magic or handyman conection. I don't know if I should be breaking territories by distance, population, both or some other way. I am guessing that for alot of you this is a fairly novice problem to encounter but for whatever reason I am getting really hung up here.

I would truly appreciate any feed back on this matter. Thank you in advance for any response.

Welcome to the forum Ryan. I would think that a big part of a potential advertiser's decision to use your service would be based on the projected volume of targeted traffic your site can deliver. If your website is new how do you plan to drive enough traffic to justify the cost of advertising?

Hello Houston and thanks for the response. We have a multitude of ways we intend to market our site. This feature that I posted about is only one of many features the site will have. We will focus on Search Engine Optimization, Pay per click advertising, affiliate links, etc.... The initial companies that partner with us will be our founding underwriters and will get in at a premium. Their investments will be pooled in an effort to launch a campaign in their territory.
