Hello from a newbie...

Hello all...

Im very new to the sales world and am enjoying most aspects of it so far.

My name is Michael, I live in Melbourne Australia and work in a retail outlet selling Doors for Autralia's number one Door company.

Coming from a labour background im still finding my feat when it comes to dealing with the public, although my peers and senoir management seem to think im doing extreamly well.

I just stumbled by this forum and will be popping in and out from time to time.

Ragards

Michael.

Thanks for the replies guys.

As I stated earlier, still quite new to selling.

I work in a retail outlet selling doors, so not as fancy as some, though the principles are still the same I guess. I work on a commision based salary and have to visit customers at thier home to do measure and quotes from time to time.

What do you guys think?

Fantastic! I spent quite a few years selling to consumers in their homes and also selling in retail and showroom settings. Your type of work can very rewarding and fun, yet challenging. I have found that selling to consumers can be quite different from business-to-business selling.

Hey there! What kind of doors? Hollow core, solid core? Stile and rail? Interior or exterior?

I sell capital equipment that pre-hangs doors. We have sold a few of our machines into Australia and New Zealand.

Anyways, welcome! I just joined today as well.

We sell everything in doors.

Hollow core, solids, interior, exterior, pre hung, pine, timber... We also are the only company in Australia that can organise to Fit, Stain, Paint and Deliver doors.

Not the most exciting product, though a great chance to learn how to sell...

Not the most exciting product??? I beg to differ. A door completes a home. It provides character, it provides security, it keeps in the warmth on a cold, rainy day. Just know that you are part of an industry that is integral to society. What would we do without doors?

Now that's what I call passion for the product you sell! I love it, ScotS!
