Changing roles... and looking for help!

Hi,

I'm Stephen, I'm 24 and have recently taken on a completely new sales role...

Since I turned 19 I have worked on holiday parks, selling large static caravan holiday homes and log cabins ('trailers' as I think they are termed in the US! Although trailer/holiday parks in this country don't have the stigma they appear to have in the US!). These were generally large amounts of money (£15k-£50k). It was critical that the sales process appealed to the emotional side of my customers as I was selling a deppreciating asset worth half of the retail price the moment it becomes used! erm; - all be it with a nice lifestlye attached!

I have had some fantastic training - most of it delivered by Wilson Learning. This focused on building trust, mapping a sales process to your customer and then closing the sale one step at a time... very gentle, but seemingly quite pyschological...

I have been very sucessful with this previous role. A good solid performer and in a position where I was being offered jobs across the country.... However! - I decided the time was right to move on (there is always always a demand for sales people in my previous industry... and I left the doors open just incase...)

So here I am. Working for a web-design company in Leeds, UK. No training to be had (small company owned by a friend) - massive potential for earning - but little idea of what works and what doesn't!

At the moment I am following up some leads from a recent conference. Results? erm... not yet....

So i'm here to work on that! Look at what works, what doesn't, and adapt! As far as I'm concerned learning never stops... So... I'm all ears!

Nice to be here

Many thanks for the warm welcome!

I have posted in the 'sales approach' area with a few questions, what i'm doing now, etc!

Really hope to be able to give a little back too - my brain has expanded a great deal since first dipping my toe into this area... so I'm sure there is something up there that would be of use to someone else!
