Publicity Campaign - What are the best media outlets and formats?

For independent salespeople on a limited budget what are some of the best choices for media outlets and formats?

A lot of people say press releases and getting interviewed by the local television station work good.

Check out www.fastpitchnetworking.com. They will publish press releases for you and there are groups in most cities that meet for networking.

Thanks for the responses. Any other ideas besides press releases and local tv?

The beauty of publicity besides that it's free advertising is that it isn't usually perceived as advertising ___ but like advertising if your target demographic isn't exposed to the message then what's the point ___ so the best outlets and formats are those that reach your target demographic.

You could try Blog Talk Radio to get setup as a host to reach out to people to interview. It's amazing what hosting your own radio show will do in terms of getting you in the door.

Or you could try going through Marcia Yudkin's site to get PR help: http://pressreleasehelp.com.

PRWeb.com is another site to check out with resources to guide you along the way.

There are tons of books that cover this topic very well--just do a search on Amazon for publicity tips or something like that.

Another resource: PRNewswire.com and PRNDirect. They have a "sister" site (ProfNet) that you can sign up to be approached by media members to be interviewed for topics in your area of expertise. A great way to build credibility.

I hope I've helped.
