Attention Car Salespersons...

Great day all,

Attention all car salespersons:

My "friend's" Saab car lease is up on 12/31/07.
What are the do's and don'ts of negotiating a new lease from another dealership (Honda CR, Rav-4)?

My "friend" would appreciate any and all expert advice on how to get the most while paying the least lease.

Thanks

I am not a car salesman but I ran a rental car company for 3 years and we bought and dealt with many new car dealers. Here are some easy quick tips:

When he first walk into the lot, don't tell them he's leasing, tell them he's paying cash. Once they quote the lowest price, then tell them you're now going to lease. They will hate him but it's the best way to get a good price.

Don't pay freight if the car is sitting on the lot - he doesn't have to (everyone thinks they do). If they refuse to walk off the lot. They won't let you get very far and it can save you $1000. Same with any other small charges except for taxes of course.

Do some research and once you know what 2-3 cars you want make sure you check kbb.com and get the invoice price and negotiate the price up from there, not down from the sticker price. Give them a reasonable amount but most cars are marked up $2000-3000 when you should give them maybe $500.

Hope it helps!
