PDF files
PDF files seem to be all the craze as I am seeing them more and more for everything. I'm starting to feel like I look less professional if I don't use them.
OK, I know how to read pdf's, so how do you create them? What is the program and is it expensive? -RainMaker

Adobe Acrobat is the software but you can also create
PDF files online. -AZBroker
Thanks, AZ. I don't know if the benefit can justify the cost at this time.:( -RainMaker
RainMaker,
Check out this site:
http://pdf995.com/
I started with the free download, and then purchased the PDF maker - its about $10.
It works as a print driver, so after you load it, you select it as the "printer" when you select to print a file.
It's worked well, never had any problems. You can combine files in one PDF file, probably with the paid version. I use it to send one PDF that contains a report in Word, an associated spreadsheet in Excel, and maybe a Publisher file.
Combining things is easier for the recipient, and if they don't have Word, Excel, Publisher, etc, people usually always have Adobe Acrobat.
There are a lot of other capabilties that I don't use, I'm sure.

Hmm, I need at least 10 characters for this post
So, Hope you enjoy it. -KSA-Mktg
I seem to remember having tried this software, and something about it didn't work (but that was a long time ago, so I can't remember, and maybe they've fixed whatever it was anyway!)
Do you know if you can have live links in your pdf doc with this software?

P.S.--I avoid this issue altogether as my VA can convert my files to PDF for me :D . One more good reasosn to have someone like a VA to help with the details that I hate! -Terri Zwierzynski

OK. What's that? -RainMaker
"OK. What's that?"
“A Virtual Assistant (VA) is an independent entrepreneur providing administrative, creative and/or technical services. Utilizing advanced technological modes of communication and data delivery, a professional VA assists clients in his/her area of expertise from his/her own office on a contractual basis."

That's very interesting. Thanks. -RainMaker
I use three VAs. They do everything from create and distribute my newsletter, answer support queries, schedule meetings, manage projects, post new website content and delete the outdated stuff, interface with members and contributors to my site, gather my monthly business review data...in short, everything I hate doing! Usually the detailed stuff. They are much more efficient and effective at it than I -- and I'm freed up to be thinking up new projects, investigating new technology, and plotting strategy.
In short, my business could not function without my VAs! Best of all, they aren't employees, they manage their own businesses, so no overhead associated with having employees. Even better: they are my biggest supporters. I love my VAs! -Terri Zwierzynski
