Turnaround Time?

I dont know if this questions applys to all the products everyone sells here but I will give you a scenerio.

Selling commercial vehicles alot of times people call me and want prices on a vehicle. I always tell them that I can give them prices right now, but if they want a quote I will have it to them in 20 minutes. If they want a real quote I send them, via fax or email, a 14 page quote that lists standard features and selected features of my product as well as price breakdowns.
the reason i ask for 20 minutes is that alot of times people want these vehicles with liftgates, shelving packages, boxes on cab and chassis or the like. which takes me a few minutes to look up and include in my quote. but here is my problem.
If they ask for something that I have never quoted before and do not have prior history on price I have to call a vendor and get a price from them, then check with my shop on install time. which, if i get my questions responded to quickly enough, I can still have my quote out in 20 minutes. Most the time that does not happen. and I have to send out my quote minus the upfit and get back with the customer on that later. my clients dont seem to mind but it bothers me. so my question is.

how long does it take you guys to get pricing information to a customer?

Quote Turnaround

Jaron:

I would say that 20 minutes is great time and that your customer wouldn't mind waiting up to several hours for an accurate quote.

In my business, medical sales, the customer will usually tell me that they need to order this right away and I will turn the quote more quickly. Often they will say, I need this quote by next Friday so I can turn it in for budget.

Unless they tell me that they need it right away, I will usually turn the quote within 24 hours as I don't like to stop my day to do a quote unless it is urgent. As a rule, I try not to do quotes during money hours.

Good Selling!
