Site Built it! Scam or reality?

I just spent some times on the Site Built It! website and it seems interesting but I don't know why I have this feeling that something is wrong... Maybe the way they market it (remind me too much Herbalife...)

Any fair and unbiaised opinions? (no affiliates please...)

I researched Site Built It! a couple of years ago and wasn't impressed. I don't remember much more than that.

Ricky,

I aim to built a 1 or 2 pages website with the following objectifs:

1. Capture email adress and built my list.

2. Give the oportunity for people to buy an ebook and sign up for my 2 hour workshop (via eventbrite.com)

So basically It's is a very simple website project... 2 sales pages with check out and email sign up. I don't want to hire a webmaster as I want to be able to edit the website whenever I want. But in the same time I'm a real beginner and I must confess that I don't know where to start...

Talking What you seek, seek at you!

I actually find what I was looking for! I just received a internet marketing newsletter with the exact answer

Maybe some of you would like to do the same so basically here is the process:

1. Register a domain name and choose a host

2. Download KompoZer (if you can use Word, you can use KompoZer).

3. Register to any email marketing solution (I just sign up for a free trial on Get Response.com)

4. Edit and publish your workshop on Eventbrite.com (Free but they take 2,5% on every tickets sold). I used it to sell tickets for my first workshop. It's really great and easy to use!

5. Create a freebie (ebook, mp3...)

6. Edit and Publish your sales webpage with Kompozer. Include email opt-in, link for the workshop, ebook check out.

I got some work for the week-end...

An Internet Business in a Weekend?

Hey Ryan,

I don't have any unbiased information for you, but I have some very biased yet verifiable information about site build it for you.

You say they market their stuff like herbalife, I don't want to sound like a shill but I don't see the connection. I've personally built 3 very highly ranked and highly trafficked websites with no prior knowledge about how to build a website before early 2007.

I think the people who are turned off by SBI's marketing probably are under the assumption a web-business can be built in a weekend. I know for a fact they cannot. Going that route cost me a lot of pain, money, and frustration.

Like I said I'm biased. But one of my SBI sites receives over 2000 visitors a day, and I don't do anything but follow the SBI action guide and use a little elbow grease.

I'd say that using SBI is somewhere close to getting a Phd in online business. I can't understate how much value there is in an SBI! site, I promise you it's far more than the 300 bucks a year.

I hope this helps you make a decision one way or the other.

Be well,
Jesse

What is the focus of that website Jesse?

Azbroker,

It's fashion related. Decent niche website, I've moved on to bigger, greener, more competitive/more profitable pastures. But that site's traffic just kind keeps rolling along unphased, for the most part it grows; though June and July have been pretty tough, but these are the worst months for web traffic anyway so that's expected. SBI is an amazing product, but I know it's not for everyone.

Hope that helps,
Be well,
Jesse

I would think that what's most important is... is there traffic to be had? If nobody is interested in what you're offering you're website isn't going to change that. If there is traffic to be had and you follow a few basic principles found either through the SBI action guide or by participating in a web building community you'll most likely do okay.
