young AF vet starting a new career in sales

hey everyone, my name is Tim. After separating from the Air Force in 08, I was hired by an energy company as a marketing consultant. Basically I cold call potential investors to create quality appointments for my senior associate or closer. I receive a commission on all deals from my leads and am being groomed to eventually become a closer myself. The program I'm involved with right now is an oil drilling venture. I have some sales experience, before I joined the service, but was ultimately hired because of my persistence and knowledge of business and investing that i acquired through my ability to educate myself.

I joined this site because i believe the best way for me to learn how to be successful is to follow advise from other successful closers.

I would appreciate advice in all aspects of selling, though my concerns right now are how to be more personable to prospects,
specifically I am interested in examples of good open ended questions to ask and how to use them.

thank you

Figure out what problem you solve for investors. Then spend each day looking for as many that have that problem as you can. Once you find one with the problem, quickly find out if they want to solve that problem for themselves. If not, move on. If yes, further qualify them and move them to the next step in the sales process.

Tim,

Thanks for your service to our country in the Air Force, and welcome to the SalesPractice community.

P.S. I love the effect of open-ended questions on people, especially prospects!
